And we're off!

It's official - we have a walker - watch out world! Starting Monday (9/21) - almost 2 weeks shy of her first birthday, Rhodes started officially walking! She has been cruising forever, standing on her own and the Monday before last she started taking 4-5 steps on her own over and over again (I don't count that as official walking!). But, this week, it's the real deal and all she wants to do is practice. Luckily, she is still taking it slow and steady so I am not sweating just yet - but I know she will be running all over the place before we know it! I forgot how much I love this milestone.....besides the fact that I may never be able to sit down again b/c I will be chasing her (and her sister!), Rhodes is already sleeping better - longer naps and sleeping through the night/going to bed wonderfully, and is in the best mood since she is so proud of her new accomplishments. We have a happy household around here! Welcome to the walking world, Rhodes! Don't forget to sit down and get some rest now and then!

What's happenin with the Patrick family!

I am going to try to stop starting posts with "We have been busy" since that just seems to be our life these days! I guess it just goes without saying!

Ali started school 2 weeks ago today and she LOVES it! She misses all of her friends from Weekday (especially Bennett, Tate and Maggie Beth!) but we still see them on a regular basis through activities/church! I could not have asked for better teachers for Ali this year. I have known Ms. Garrett for as long as I can remember and Ms. Valerie has the biggest smile/warmest personality as well! Ali literally gets so excited to go to school - which says a lot since she did not know any of her classmates going into it. We started carpool this year and she hops right out and I literally watch her hopping into the building, with excitement! We started music class this past week with our favorite teacher, Mrs. Arie! Both of the girls loved it and it was amazing for me to watch how completely different their little personalities are - just in that class. Ali since day 1 of music class sits by me and on my lap and Rhodes took off crawling, standing, "walking" around the class the second we got in there. I don't think I got her to sit on my lap for an entire minute! I love these two for their sweet little differences! Makes life more fun! Starting next week, we are going to have lunch dates with Bennett after Music class so Ali is really excited about that! She is missing her little buddy so much! Last week was Lil Lambs week at church so the three of us got to spend a LOT of time up at the church so luckily Ali got in a lot of QT with Tate and Bennett, too! (I am so relieved it is over though - I feel like I barely saw the girls last week!!!) Ali also started ballet two weeks ago and she LOVES it!! I mean, loves it!! It is the cutest thing to watch these precious little 2 year olds dance around (they even do a little tap along with the ballet!) - Thursday nights are now a highlight of my week! It is such a cute little class and both Libby and Maggie Beth are in there so Ali loves it even more! I have to brag that after the first class the teacher came up to me and made a point to tell me that Ali did great and was one of the best in there. Now, she probably said this to all of the moms :) but it still made me proud of my little budding ballerina! She comes home and practices twirling around - she is quite our little priss!

Along with our new music class for Rhodes, Rhodes and I are also enjoying spending Tuesday mornings together - just the two of us, one on one. It is the one day that Ali is in school that we have together and I am so happy to have it. It is so hard the second time around to find that complete one on one time and Rhodes is such a character to play with! Yesterday, all day long, she would take official steps to me - 3 or 4 at a time, not holding onto a thing! Walking, here we come!! She can push up to standing from a squatting position and stands as much as she can. Such a big girl! She is also going to school (Mother's Morning Out) at First Baptist too (right down the hall from Ali) - just one day a week. I was not looking forward to it, to be honest - it's just hard dropping my baby off anywhere (I felt the same way with Ali!) but she LOVES it and I think in the end, it is good for her to get to play with other little babies her age. She has only been twice (it's once a week) but I get so excited about when time rolls around to get to go pick her up - and so far she has gotten great reports from her teachers. I still can not believe we are only about 2.5 weeks from her FIRST birthday! I know I need to stop saying that, but time has literally flown!!

I know we will continue to be busy but I just wanted to update everyone on what we'd been up to!! This next month we are already booked up with at least two birthday parties every weekend too - I guess that's what happen the year Ryan and I turn 30 and friends have 30th birthday parties and then having two little girls with lots of cute friends - we have a lot to look forward to! I'm hoping we find time to catch our breath before the holidays, but that is life and life is good! Happy Fall!

One more month!

Rhodes turned 11 months last week - only one more month until my sweet little baby will be one! I think she is ready to be one (she is trying to steal her sister's milk sippy cup as I type - a common pasttime around here) but her Mama is not so ready. I am holding on tight to this sweet little baby! Rhodesy now has 3.5 teeth - the top two started coming in the day she turned 11 months - her left one is just making a little more progress than the right. She is eating meals with us, standing up all by herself (she loves to clap every time she stands up - it's too cute!), still trying soo hard to walk! I will be very surprised if she is not walking by her first birthday! We spend most of our days together "practicing" as she holds onto my hands around and around the house - and she is NOT happy when I try to stop. I think she could walk 24 hours a day (holding my hands) if I let her! On a HUGE note for us - she started sleeping through the night pretty much on her 11 month birthday. Now we have gone back and forth on this for months, but I feel like we have finally officially reached this milestone - and in her own bed! :) It took some crying - which I hate to do - but we are all enjoying our sleep around here now! The girls get up after 8 lately which gives me plenty of time to run in the morning and get ready - sooo nice - it's about time! :) Rhodes' hair is getting longer - it is amazing how much more hair she has than Ali did at her age! She even has cute (little) curls popping up in the back now! She has mastered most of her little tricks like blowing kisses and saying mmmwwwaaa, clapping her hands, waving bye bye, putting her hands in the air when we say "Hands up!", etc. Rhodes is quite the busy bee and always on the move and we are so happy she is ours! She wants/tries to do anything and everything her sister does - they are so sweet together and love to love on eachother, laugh together and even have their little spats - I guess acting like sisters starts early! Rhodes is saying lots of Mamama when she sees me and Dadada when she sees Ryan and Bababa when she sees Baxter - but the word I have noticed a lot lately is "addii" - I think she is trying to say Ali!

Happy 11 months sweet Rhodes! Time flies when you're having fun!

Cute Little Dawgs!

Well, the dawgs lost yesterday - what a depressing game! But, at least they had some cute little dawgs cheering them on!

Check out these precious future Georgia Bulldogs
Sweet friends - Trey Swartwood (4 weeks), Lee Smith (7 months), Rhodes (11 months), Ali (34 months), James Hunter (3 months), Brooks Bagwell (3 months)

Our little Rhodes watching the dawgs...

I think I have quickly forgotten since last Fall that football season/watching the game at a friend's house no longer includes actually "watching" the game when you are a mom. It is more like, chasing your kids around, keeping your eye on them while they watch The Little Mermaid in another room as the husbands watch the game and give you updates! Nothing wrong with that though! We decided to get a group picture of most of the little ones there (although missing our friend Little Mimi!) The one at the top was my personal favorite, but I also enjoyed going through the rest of these to watch the progression of the photo shoot of a 2 year old and and 5 babies under 1 year! They were all too cute and are destined to be lifetime friends! (just like some of their parents are!)

I love these next few and the interaction between Rhodes and Lee....

Ali wanted to give her sister some love for the pictures - although it seemed to be pretty close to a choke hold...

I think they've had enough!
We had a fun time with all of these sweet little ones - hopefully next time all of the fun will also include a win for the Dawgs!

Today is the first day of school!

My little Ali B:

Today is your first day of 2 year old preschool! Oh, how excited I am for you and this new adventure! I prayed and prayed about this decision this year to go to FBC and I knew God had big plans for you! I am so excited about your teachers this year, Ms. Garrett and Ms. Valerie - I know that you are in good hands and that they are Christian women that will be such wonderful role models for you! I am also so excited about all of the new little friends you will make this year with your big smile, happy giggles, and sweet demeanor! I got a little sad this morning when I dropped you off, just being emotional, but you walked in like such a big girl straight to Ms. Garrett and didn't look back! We are so very proud of you, big girl, and love you so very much!! I am counting down the next few hours until noon to hear about your first big day! Have a great day!!

Up and ready (and eating cinnamon rolls) for the first day!
Dressed and nametag on - ready to go!
The girls with daddy
And one with Mama!
Enough pictures already!
On our way!
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

August fun!

We had a busy last weekend in August, yet again! Saturday was especially a crazy busy day for us - Ryan and I ran a 5K together that morning (which was HUGE for me - never been a runner and have been training!), we took Ali and Rhodes to a birthday party for their friend Cooper and Ryan and I went to a 30th birthday party that night! In between all of that fun - Ryan took Ali to the square to ride the Historic Marietta Trolley and she loved it! They have been talking about doing it for awhile b/c Ryan is friends with the owners and Ali was soo excited about it! I made them promise me to get pictures of Ali riding it - and here they are above! Ryan said Ali was so good and talked to the driver and tour guide - she just did not want to ring the bell this time. I know that she is excited about going again sometime soon and next time taking her friends!
